Best Breaking Dawn Theories I've Heard So Far
And by best I mean the ones that I really hope happen.
1. The Volturi kill Edward. Bella hears his voice in her head telling her to be happy. Bella and Jacob can live their lives the way they would have naturally, together.
Apart from me just wanting to see poor Jake happy, this scenario would leave out difficult things like pulling her parents into something or ignoring them without giving them reason or warning.
2. Bella is turned some way or another and her power is to literally take other people's emotion, most notably, pain. This would mean she felt it herself and not the other person.
I still don't know exactly when I'm getting my copy of Breaking Dawn. We're leaving home Tuesday, August 1st really early, and if all goes well we should be somewhere around Charlevoix, Michigan on August 2nd. I don't yet know if we're going to be there by Tuesday night, or if we plan on getting there on Wednesday. We have friends in Charlevoix, that's why we're stopping. The final destination is Mackinac Island, where we will be until early to midday, Sunday, August 6th. :( That means there is little to no chance I will make it home in time for Wrock Out Chicago, and since I couldn't afford tickets to Terminus, I'll have to settle for the dinky little unofficial meat-ups. :( There were so many people I wanted to meet and so many wrock bands I wanted to see. I've wanted to go to a Remus Lupins show for a whole year, and they came within an hour of my house three times, but I couldn't make any due to a combination of no gas money, a blizzard, and my parents thinking it was too far. :(

Quinoa Stew with Roasted Potatoes and Parsnip
In Atlanta, there's a restaurant called R Thomas Deluxe Grill in the Buckhead area. They serve a bunch of organic, delicious foods--and have a very nice selection of vegan entrees. I was down there a couple weekends ago visiting a friend, and we ate there three times in two days. Yeah, it's good. If you're ever in the neighborhood, I suggest popping in.
At any rate, one of the dishes I had was their Hearty Breakfast Stew. It was ridiculously good. I had a craving for it today, and since Atlanta is about 5 hours' drive away, it's not exactly convenient.. so! I attempted to create a dish that is heavily inspired by R Thomas', and it came out delicious! So I figured I'd share it with you guys.

pala
pala's a pizza/italian joint above stanton on allen st in the lower east side, and i had the best vegan pizza of my life there last night. in fact, that stuff was in the running for best pizza of my entire life. i got the bunch of guys with whom i was dining, who had ordered a foul soppresata-carpeted pie, to try it; all pronounced it amazing, and they actually beat me to the last slice. success!
just wanted to give all and sundry a heads up on pala; i'd never heard mention of it in vegan circles, and it's definitely not to be missed.

GRRRRRRRR...
I had a party that was for a housewarming+my-housemate's-birthday. I made the invitations and on them explicitly stated that it was a VEGAN party and that people should only bring VEGAN food if they felt like bringing food.
One of my housemate's friends said in the lj post inviting everyone "Vegan only? I'll pass". grrr. My SO commented asking what kinds of things there are at parties that aren't vegan or easily veganised? It's not like you serve steak at a party. Their reply included devilled eggs. WTF!? What party, EVER, would serve devilled eggs? Are they like a billion years old? Even if an omni was throwing the party, there STILL wouldn't be devilled eggs.
Anyway, that person was in a different state anyway, so they wouldn't have come if there were steaks and their precious ~*~devilled eggs~*~
Most of his friends didn't come. I don't know if that's because he had told them he'd be working lateish, so he wouldn't arrive at the party til late, or because the food was omgvegan! (or maybe they just don't like him...)
So then the party gets underway, and what happens? My housemate and his friend (the only one that turned up) WENT OUT TO GET DINNER. Is it just me or is that exceptionally rude? It's not like we were just eating junky shit.
We had: beetroot hummus, regular hummus, cut up veggies, lebanese bread, a beany/nachoey dip, corn chips, guacamole, cashews, grapes, spanikopita, sweet potato pastries, biscuits, cupcakes, fairy bread, chips, lollies. Granted some of them aren't really good for dinner (ie, the lollies etc), but COME ON.
and also, he bought baileys. Now, I thought "well maybe he isn't aware that it contains milk". But he ALSO bought a 2L bottle of milk. ...did he not get the notice that it was a fucking vegan party? You know, how we AGREED ON THAT PRIOR TO THE INVITATIONS BEING SENT OUT?
and he didn't even USE the goddamn milk, so it just sat there, unrefridgerated (thank god, because I don't want it in my fridge), and so we had to throw it out anyway.
ARRRRRRRRRGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Mozzerella Stick recipe
Lately I've had a horrible craving for mozzerella sticks. I feel like they would be impossible to veganize. Does anyone have any idea how to go about this? They are simply sticks of mozzerella cheese that are breaded and either baked or deep fried. Vegan cheese doesn't seem to have the elasticity that mozzerella cheese has.

What can I do with celery? I don't like it plain much, or with peanut butter. I like it in mock chicken salad.
